Pong

I leaned into the tunnel closest to me, a warm light reflected onto my arm. I reached my arm toward the bright light, which resulted in me being thrown headfirst in a static blackness. This must have been the oblivion beyond the initial interface.

I felt a sharp ping misery and found myself suddenly in a cocoon shaped form, bouncing back and forth near the two whitewashed walls. My ears nearly became deaf and I was becoming dizzy.

My cyber soul heard a “brrinnnggg” as I continued bouncing between walls against my will. My ears nearly became deaf and I was becoming dizzy. My whole world was dizzy.

—This must be how I die.

Eventually, a virus emerged because since I was the ball, it detected the abnormality in the game.

—I am assuming when the true developers made the console, it was not intended to suck people’s souls up into the game.

I fell through a silver tunnel leading to blue nothingness. Entering into the realm of the game, and perceiving there to be whitewashed bars as I descended into the game’s interface.

—Oh my, where am I? How could I get out of here? Why me? Okay come on, think.

I knew I had to be in one of the four games from the outside of the Magnavox.

—Think, think, think. Little balls flying around, paddles controlling them, controlling me. OH! It had to be Pong!

Looking around me, I realized  there was a glitch in the game, since the ball wouldn’t appear for a couple of rounds. Then I could see the scoreboard which allowed me to gauge how close they were to completing the round. Once the ball appeared, they were able to play a round. I was still in the game however after the first round.

—I have to be patient. Solve the game.

I felt like I was trapped in some digital chains holding me forever to this game.

—How many rounds did I need to survive?

Suddenly, my body began to ache, the familiar ache of being thrown into this dreadful game.

—I did it! I survived enough rounds! Now I could finally leave this dreadful game.
